monarca

Editorial Typography

Monarca is a printed newspaper that sheds light on persistent social issues in Mexico, including colorism, sexism, and fat phobia. The publication combines editorial design with investigative storytelling to highlight voices and experiences that are often overlooked. As part of the project, I interviewed actress Miranda Treviño, who shared her own perspective and struggles as a woman navigating these challenges within the entertainment industry. Monarca serves as both a visual and cultural commentary, using design as a tool to amplify conversations that are vital to Mexican society today.

I developed an exhibition catalogue focusing on Act Four of Swan Lake, a project that examines the ballet’s complex history and transformation. When it premiered in 1877, critics dismissed it as one of the weakest productions of its time, but through revision and adaptation it evolved into one of the most celebrated works in classical performance. Today, alongside other beloved ballets, Swan Lake stands as a cultural icon, with music so universally recognized that it resonates far beyond the world of ballet.
